Lovie Smith Terminated

Why was this such a shocker?

Lovie Smith walked into Tampa 2014, and immediately made changes that surely led the Bucanneers to finish with the NFL's worst record in 2014 (2-12). They won 4 games the previous season.

They drafted Florida State standout and Heisman trophy winner, Jameis Winston with the #1 pick in the draft.

After a shining rookie season from Jameis Winston, the Buccaneers were still just 6 - 10.

Jameis Winston however, wasn't the only big story in Tampa Bay. Doug Martin finished 2nd in rushing yards, Mike Evans put up 1,206 yards of receiving. On the defensive side, Lavonte David was 3rd in the NFL in tackles, and Gerald McCoy was selected to the Pro Bowl for the fourth time along with Logan Minkins, who is in his first first Pro Bowl.

It would seem that a 6-10, 2014 season, along with an overall mark of 8 - 22 over the past two seasons was not up to par with ownership, and that's the way it should be.

From this point forward, there is no room for a "been there, done that" coach who doesn't seem to have any fire to him. -EE
