The Dallas Cowboy QB Controvery

With the 135th pick in the 2016 draft, the Cowboys selected QB Dak Prescott from Mississippi State University. Generally, drafted QBs that aren't picked until the 4th round, normally don't end up starting on Week One as a rookie.

However, this season the Dallas Cowboys once again found themselves with their back against the wall as their veteran starting quarterback Tony Romo has a suffered another injury. Look, the guy is 36 years old, he hasn't thrown for more than 4,000 yards since 2012, and he's only won two playoff games in 14 seasons as the Dallas Cowboy's starting quarterback.

Dak Prescott, on the other hand, can be the future of the Dallas Cowboys. Prescott is 4 - 1 as the Cowboy's quarterback this season. His ability to learn Dallas's offense scheme in a short amount of time, and the chemistry he's shown with his teammates is more than just impressive. The kid is a natural.

By no means am I a Tony Romo hater, I'm just sick of the NFL Universe putting him on the same pedestal as some of the great QBs of the modern era. Romo is no Brady, be he's no Trent Dilfer either. Either way, Dallas would be best to move on. Here's another notable reason why.

Dallas has likely paid out most, or all of Romo's guaranteed $55 million from his latest contract. Whether they paid him most or all of his guaranteed pay, they're likely not on the hook for that much if they let him go. Not to mention the fact that Dallas has Dak Prescott locked in a 4-year, $2.75 million contract (barely the league minimum).

It's time for Dallas to realize that Romo's better days are over. I don't know exactly what a compression fracture to the L1 verterbra entails, but it sounds pretty fucked up. The Cowboys organization needs to accept the overwhelming fact that Tony Romo was not the Troy Aikman caliber quarterback they were looking for. He was great for a time, but that time has passed, they should stick with Prescott and continue with their winning momentum.

Dak Prescott.....make Dallas great again!! -EE

  1. I support that Prescott has earned the right to continue being the starter. I don't think cutting Romo at this time would be a wise decision. In the event your starter goes down a team needs a viable backup to remain competitive.
