SpiderMan Homecoming Review

Spiderman: Homecoming is the first full-length Spiderman film made by Marvel Studios. It is directed by Jon Watts, and takes place two months after the events in Captain America: Civil War. The movie stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr. and others.

Spiderman: Homecoming was a great film. I'm a little undecided as to whether or not it's a great superhero film however.

I was glad I didn't have to watch a third origin Spiderman film in 13 years. The overall theme of the first two franchises were mystery, death, regret and guilt. It was nice to see a Spiderman who isn't so uptight all the time.

The film seemed to lack the intensity level of the other films. Peter Parker was 15 years old and just simply didn't have the killer instinct portrayed by the other Avengers.

Michael Keaton plays a decent villain, it's kind of funny though because the last newsworthy film he was in, was the Oscar-winning Birdman, where he played an actor who used to be the lead in a fictional Birdman franchise, where he supposedly played a superhero in a bird outfit. In Spiderman: Homecoming Keaton dons a bird costume as a supervillain.

Overall, it's decent film that's worth the price of admission. Just don't expect to see the same intense violence that you might see in any of the other Avenger character solo-films, or the Avenger films itself obviously. -EE
